verde hot springs
Verde hot springs (the red dot at the bottom of the image) is about an 1 1/2 hour's drive from Camp Verde, depending on the robustness of your vehicle.
To get to Verde Hot Springs, take Interstate 17 to Camp Verde, exiting at Hwy 260 (I think it is exit #287). Go east on 260 approx. 10 miles to Fossil Creek Rd. This turn off is easy to miss so keep an eye out for it on the right hand side; if you have one you should reset your trip odometer when you get off of 17. Also note that Fossil Creek "Rd" is a not paved; it is loose gravel/rocks that requires careful driving. A sport utility, truck, or jeep is best for this road although it can be done in a car - just go slow (20mph at best).
From the 260 & Fossil Creek Rd. it is an approx. 20 mile drive to the Childs camp ground, the place you will park before your walk to the springs. To get to Childs follow Fossil Creek Rd down. There is only one turn you need to make - approx 14 miles after leaving 260 you will need to make a right turn. I think there are signs that direct you to the Childs camp ground so follow them if you see them. The drive seems to take forever because of the crappy road and the slow speed, so have patience!
