Updated version now available for download!
Important note: the current version of gpxExchange works best with version 1.0 gpx files. The latest version of the Expert GPS saves files using version 1.1 of the gpx schema. A new version of gpxExchange supporting 1.1 will be available in May.
gpxExchange is a *free* Microsoft® MapPoint add-in that imports and exports data to GPX formatted files. It allows you to display in MapPoint the waypoints, routes, and tracks you've collected using your GPS, and use MapPoint to author new waypoints, routes, and tracks for your GPS.
gpxExchange doesn't communicate directly with your GPS; there are other applications, like ExpertGPS, that already do just that. Instead, gpxExchange simply reads and writes the xml-formatted .gpx files created by ExpertGPS and others, thus leveraging the mapping and routing functionality of MapPoint.
gpxExchange appears inside MapPoint as a new command on the Tools menu. This command displays a dialog box that lets you control how data is imported and exported.
gpxExchange lets you control what data is imported. Waypoints are displayed as MapPoint pushpins. Tracks are displayed as freeform lines. Select the route to be converted to a MapPoint route as MapPoint supports only a single active route. MapPoint then generates turn-by-turn driving instructions for this route.

gpxExchange also lets you control what data is exported. MapPoint pushpins become waypoints. The active route's waypoints becomes a route. Freeform lines are exported as tracks. Select any or all of these to export to a gpx file. To save this data to your gps, open the .gpx file in ExpertGPS/Panterra/EasyGPS then upload.

gpxExchange is now available for download.
