I just about always take my GPS with me when I go hiking. I find that its ability to track where I've been, how far I've gone, tally altitude gained and lost, among others, to be just as useful as its main purpose, keeping you on course as you travel to your destination. This site contains the log files from many of the hikes I have completed.
While you are not likely to get lost along many of these trails, these tracklogs and waypoint can help you gauge your progress and assist you in responding to cries of "are we there yet" that you may get from novice hikers that accompany you. The waypoints also point out some rest areas and other features that may be helpful to know.
Click on each hike listed below or to the left to see more information, such as the hike distance, descriptions, trail maps, and images. You can also download an associated waypoint and track log file that can be used with the excellent EasyGPS/Panterra/Expert GPS software as well as other tools. If this type of software is new to you then my GPS introduction page provides more information as well as links to more detailed GPS web sites. All log files are zipped for fast downloading, with most files under 20 KB in size.
Important Note: The hike times I indicate represent a very fast-paced hike with only brief rest stops. Use the distances and ascent provided to estimate how long you'll be on the trail; most of these hikes also allow you to shorten or lengthen the hike to meet your available time and energy.
