The Forks of the Credit is a provincial park about 45 minutes to the north-west of Toronto. While the park is a place to visit on its own, this hike starts south of the park, on the Bruce Trail at the beginning of the Caledon Hills section. As with all Bruce Trail hikes, more details and detailed maps can be found in the Bruce Trail Guidebook.

About 1/3 of this hike is along streets, walking along Creditview north of Boston Mills and north of Old Base Line Rd. The rest is on the Bruce Trail and the Caledon Trailway. Most of the hike is fairly flat except for the climb down Devils Pulpit (where wire guides are there to help you navigate down) and a few hills inside the park. Since the park is at the halfway point it provides a lot of good places to sit and have a drink and a snack.

The walk south along the McLaren Road clearance (a path that hopefully doesn't get turned into McLaren road in the future) passes by many ponds. When I did this hike in mid-spring I swear I heard the croaking of hundreds of frogs. It was an amazing sound. As you go down McLaren road keep a careful eye out for the Bruce Trail white blazes. There are many unmarked paths leading to private land. Also keep an eye out for horses (and their deposits) as many of these trails get used by riders from the ranches that surround this area.

For more adventure you can lengthen this hike by parking on Winston Churchill just north of Terra Cotta by the Terra Cotta Side Trail. You can also shorten this hike by short-turning back at The Grange Sideroad, the railway tracks at Devils Pulpit, or at the Forks of the Credit Road.

Trailmaps

The "trailhead" is the side of the road at the corner Boston Mills Rd. and Creditview Rd. The Bruce Trail Guide recommended this as a place to park and I have seen a car or two here when passing this area during previous hikes. Park your car along the shoulder of Creditview just north of Boston Mills.

Here area two maps of the hike generated by ExpertGPS using my GPS's breadcrumb trail. The first map is a simple map of the trail; the second is the same data superimposed on a topo map.

The green lines are sections of the main Bruce Trail leading to and from Forks Of The Credit Provincial Park.

The blue lines are Bruce Trail side trails, the Bluff Side Trail in Forks Of The Credit Provincial Park and the Credit Stone Side Trail.

The yellow lines are tracks I have followed to make the route into a loop or to shorten up the hike.
